Corrosion Resistance
Hastelloy G-30 is a high-chromium, nickel-based alloy that offers superior corrosion resistance compared to most nickel- and and iron-based alloys, particularly in complex environments such as commercial phosphoric acid and highly oxidizing acid mixtures—including nitric/hydrochloric acid, nitric/hydrofluoric acid, and sulfuric acid.
One of its key advantages is its ability to resist the formation of grain boundary precipitates in the heat-affected zone during welding, making it well-suited for a wide range of chemical processing applications. G-30 also exhibits excellent resistance to mixtures of hydrofluoric and nitric acids, which are commonly used in applications such as stainless steel pickling. In addition, when compared to other nickel-based or iron-based alloys, Hastelloy G-30 alloy demonstrates better resistance in commercial phosphoric acid environments. Its usage in the fertilizer industry is steadily increasing, particularly in components like acid evaporators, where durability and corrosion resistance are critical.
