Corrosion Resistance
INCONEL 600 is a nickel-chromium-iron-based solid solution strengthened alloy, known for its good resistance to high-temperature corrosion—including both acidic and alkaline environments—as well as oxidation. It also offers excellent cold and hot workability, along with excellent welding characteristics. This alloy maintains satisfactory thermal strength and high ductility at temperatures up to 700℃, and is engineered for service across a wide temperature range, from cryogenic levels up to 1093 °C. It shows outstanding oxidation resistance at elevated temperatures, with good oxidation resistance and carbide stability even at 1093℃. INCONEL 600 is highly effective in handling hydrogen chloride and chlorine gas; it can be used in hydrogen chloride at about 538℃ and chlorine gas up to 510℃. It also has excellent corrosion resistance to nitrogen, hydrogen, and carburizing, making it widely used in various heat treatment furnaces and other high-temperature industrial applications.
-
Applications
Crucible furnaces, muffle furnaces, and thermal processing fixtures and baskets, vacuum furnace installations, chloride equipment with a maximum operating temperature of 1000°F, titanium dioxide plants, heaters, distillation columns, bubblers, towers, and condensers in fatty acid processes, evaporator tubes, tube sheets, and press plates in sodium sulfide manufacturing processes, and rosin acid treatment equipment in pulp manufacturing, among others.
